The floor beneath them is what the clients loved and what I was matching to.
The clients have a young family and were upgrading and streamlining their Mill Valley home. The dated looking stair post balls had to go, which created a bald void in the finish and also the stair railing did not match the floor.
The entry whilst traditional, held its own stylistically but was not a robust enough commentary on the paintings, sculpture and modern taste of the client.
We worked with her East coast designer to create this stenciled/hand painted with exposed wood keystones, diamond patterned floor, rejuvenating a somewhat ‘flat’ space into a dynamic entry statement that reflects the personality and tastes of the owner.
